I was going to just do this in the replies of the journal that I was tagged in, but then I had to pause, close everything, and do some scans because that stupid fake Chrome update malware thing. It didn't pop up with a window for me. It AUTOMATICALLY downloaded the "update". Luckily, I caught it and eradicated the download file (it still needed me to actually open it before it wreaked its havoc). Needless to say, I scanned my computer once. Reset some things and am currently running a full scan. So, here's the thing I was tagged in...

13 Random Facts about Me
1. I am obsessed with the show Miraculous Ladybug. And have been since I first saw the original animated preview Zagtoon made with Toei to promote the show (in a very different form than it now bears) 4 years ago. I am impatiently waiting for the 2nd season.
2. I dislike where I live. While I have grown to appreciate the desert's beauties, my heritage is all from places of green, trees, and water.
3. Because I have spent much of my time growing up in the desert, I dare someone to complain about too much rain in my presence. Like, I understand that flooding is a problem. I lived in Florida when I was young. Hurricanes gave us floods often and in the biggest people canoed down the street. But don't hate the blessing that the desert so desperately needs. Oh, and apparently, I have mainly lived in the desert during drought. Because when I first moved here, people talked about a monsoon season which I did not see until four years later.
4. In relation to the above, it also applies to snow. I lived 2 years in Colorado. And those glorious two years when I was a kid gave me snow for the first time in my life. And then I moved again and the times that I have seen snow fall and actually stay more than a day here I can count on one hand. In fourteen years. I have not sledded enough, or made snow angels enough, or in general frolicked in the snow enough. (I'm too terrified by heights and falling from them to really devote myself to learning to ski, so... Also, ski trips cost a freakish amount of money, because all the good places near this hellish place are at least a couple hours' drive away.)
5. I cannot swim. I sink. This is a hereditary thing. My mom did the same. As did my brother.
6. I really, really love well-written movies. If it's a good script, it won't matter how big the budget or what genre. I also have a weakness for adorable couples in fiction. Like I ship things so much and squeal to myself over things...
7. I wish I didn't have the need to sleep so much. I feel like I could accomplish so much more on fewer hours of sleep or if I could meditate like an Elf. At the same time, I also realize I would need to live as long as an Elf because I'm horrible at getting sidetracked and procrastinating.
8. I prefer foreign TV series. I love Japan's comedies, detective shows, and anime, China's fantasy series, and Korea's supernatural shows along with a handful of other K-dramas. While there are plenty of interesting shows in my country, I feel like sometimes shows suffer when they change out writers or if they go on too long.
9. I love to have evenings of candlelight.
10. I also love the idea of reading stories aloud as entertainment, like people used to before other things took over.
11. I am actually really growing tired of books coming out with descriptions comparing the story to Game of Thrones or whatever else is big at the time they're published. Really? Can't we just have a description of the story, and leave it up to the reader to decide what it might be similar to?
12. I love Shakespeare. Love, love his work. A friend and I once stayed up almost all night (I had a fever at the time and didn't realize) discussing and connecting all the Italian plays. I don't believe that Romeo and Juliet was written seriously. I feel like it was supposed to make fun of that story type. I'm also just so tired of it being redone so many times. Movies, retellings (mostly from the two main views), and oh gods now there's a TV series based on a retelling that's set after the play's end and I really just cringe at it. Besides, Much Ado About Nothing and Taming of the Shrew are eternally better than Romeo and Juliet.
13. I love fairy tales. No surprise.

Now the Fox questions

1.) What made you decide to join DA?
Ok, so I've been a part of DA for almost as long as it's been alive (since high school). Before DA existed, there was this forum site that I don't really remember the name of where artists could post their work and I was part of that while it was alive. And then it died. And artists from there migrated to DA and/or CGartist (later on). So, here I be. Plus, I was interested in the fact that DA had room for literature and the like.
2.) What kind of art would you/do you actually hang on your wall? Why?
Not modern. I really like art depicting places the most. I think probably because picture frames have always reminded me of window frames since I was little, so obviously you need the best scenery beyond a window. Also, I love the Firebird decorative plates.
3.) What animal would you want associated with you, specifically? Doesn't have to be 'real world' either.
Unicorn. And I mean real unicorns. Not stupid horse with horn stuck on the head. Real unicorns are cloven-hoofed deer-like creatures of beauty. Also dragons. And cats.
4.) You are thrown into a fantasy world, complete with monsters, adventurers/heroes, kings/queens/etc, and magic. What do you do? What would you seek out in this new world?
MAGIC. MAGIC. MAGIC. I become Pathfinder Druid in reality! Oooh. And meet a dragon and fae and create that world's largest library of everything.
5.) Your best friend turns out to be a spy for a foreign power. What are your first thoughts?
You are super good at hiding things, for everyone. If it was my husband, I'd wonder How did I not know when you can't lie to me otherwise? If it was my "brother" Is this why I haven't heard from you recently? If it was one of my "sisters" I'd wonder What did they do to convince you?
6.) What is your favorite kind of soup? Or cereal? Perhaps other bowl-dish if you don't like either of those?
Kasha with cream and blackcurrants or strawberries or coco crispies or the wheat sugar squares for cereal, tomato or solyanka for soup, and otherwise ramen (the authentic kind).
7.) Who do you seek to answer life's hard answers? Who do you trust to answer fairly?
Um... Depends on the problem? Mom and Dad usually.
8.) What made you decide you like your favorite color? Your favorite smell?
Because purple is the best. I really can't pin it down to anything specific. It just happened one day.
Favorite smells are rain (because desert), sun-kissed yellow roses (because it's a lovely smell), and freshly baked bread (because yum).
9.) You have a choice between living comfortably in an inconvenient location, or living in poverty in your favorite place in the world. What would you choose and why?
Poverty in favorite place. BECAUSE TREES. I will literally forage the Montana forests to live there if I have to damn it. THE END.
10.) You are guaranteed any job in the world. What job do you take?
Librarian or bookstore owner, for books.
11.) You are guaranteed citizenship in any (new) nation in the world, what nation do you pick?
Ooh. That's actually kinda tough. Canada? Any of the Scandinavian countries? Scotland? Japan? I think I'd be ok with any of those.
12.) You can pick anyone, currently living in the world to have a week-long vacation with. Who would you pick, where would you go and why?
Uh... my husband, and someplace cool? A week is hardly enough time to do things, but probably somewhere in Europe or to see part of Japan.
13.) What are you most proud of having accomplished in life? What did you do that you'd be happy to be recognized for?
Living.

Since I was mentioned a lot in me hubby, SovietFox's journal... here is a 'quiz':

1.) Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 18, and find line 4.

"asu sae furaba... If they but fall tomorrow" from "Kokin Wakashuu" (an anthology of over 1000 poems from Heian Japan), poem number 20
The full poem reads "Today there fell rains/of spring, season recalling/tautened birchwood bows./If they but fall tomorrow/ we wil be picking young greens."

2.) Stretch your left arm out as far as you can. What can you reach?

A window/wall, I can't even technically stretch all the way.

3.) What is the last thing you watched on TV?

I don't like watching normal TV. So Netflix and Anime

4.) Without looking guess what time it is? 5.) Now look at the clock. What is the actual time?

8pm (actual is 7:49pm)

6.) With the exception of the computer, what can you hear?

Sovi talking to his colonel friend, keys and mouse clicks of his, and my music

7.) When did you last step outside? What were you doing?

Went out to eat ramen and thrift shop today

8.) Before you started this survey, what did you look at?

This survey, reading over it... and the intranets

9.) What are you wearing?

Jeans and a grey hoodie and socks

10.) Did you dream last night?

I did, but of what it was I cannot remember

11.) When did you last laugh?

Full out laughing, a few days ago, watching Sovi play Assassin's Creed

12.) What are one the walls you are in?

Sense this question does not make, therefore I answer it not.

13.) Seen anything weird lately?

I have seen the Riddler riding a motorcycle today... I cannot think of anything else of the top of my head

14.) What do you think of this quiz?

This is a quiz? And yet, there seem to be no incorrect answers.

15.) What was the last film you saw?

The Extraordinary Adventures of Miss Adele Blanc-Sec, on Netflix, showed my Mommy because it's hilarious

16.) If you became a multi-millionaire overnight, what would you buy?
I'd move out of this godforsaken state. I'd pick someplace to live and buy a house. And I'd buy a house for my mom and dad somewhere they'd rather be. And then I'd buy books. And then I'd probably still have enough money to make charitable donations to actual worthy causes, like Project for Awesome and stuff.

17.) Tell me something about you that I don't know?

Who is this 'you'? And do you not already know so much about me, dear Sovi?

18.) If you could change one thing about the world.

Um, that's why there's the projects to decrease World Suck. The problem is, I don't think anyone really can change the world. I study history and it's constant spirals of the same sorts of things that happen...

19). What do you want to learn in the future?
Language-related, history, mythology, folklore, etc. The usual, for me.

20.) George Bush:

Has been a fairly common name in the past century.

21.) Imagine your first child is a girl, what do you call her?
Honestly, I have so many girls' names that I love. And both Sovi and I have tons of names in our family history that would be fantastic to try out. I think it's honestly more about what will suit said little girl if/when she does come into the world. After all, my parents have said that sometimes the names you pick out in advance fly out the window when you actually see the child in your arms.

22.) Imagine your first child is a boy, what do you call him?

I'm rather partial to James with the nickname "Jamey" if he must have one. But again, Sovi and I shall have to discuss that when that time comes along.
23.) Would you ever consider living abroad?

A thousand times yes. I've honestly thought of it all my life -- Ireland, Scotland, England, Wales, Germany, Italy, Norway, Denmark, Sweden... I'd be okay with all of them. I had thought of Russia before, but I'm not so sure with how weird the government there's been recently.

24.) What do you want God to say when you reach the pearly gates?
I don't imagine pearly gates, rather I'd meet Him in a garden. And I'd like Him to say "Welcome home."

25.) Tag six people who must also do this in THEIR journal:
Um, tag? I don't know. If people read this/feel like doing this...

I have been with you most of those 12 years. Although I have not given new deviations in a while, which makes me sad. Still, I love you DeviantArt, and all your crazy people. Speaking of which, currently a DeviantArt friend of my husband's is visiting from Germany. It's very awesome that we are able to meet all sorts of interesting people through art. Anyway, happy dance.

Buried in Words

4 min read
I am crazy. I've undertaken the mission that many writers do... write a complete 50,000 word novel from scratch before the end of November. NaNoWriMo is a wonderful, but insane idea. I mean really, who thought of this?
No, in reality, I love it. It may be slightly unusual to non-writers, and it may be one big pain in some ways, but I think this is the most I've gotten out of my head in daily sittings. I feel like a word zombie, just type typing away.
I am a bit intimidated by the thought of a novel being completed in such a short amount of time. It's been interesting so far, and I'm hoping I can keep my idea on the right path and not deviate or get writer's block. *Crosses fingers, knocks on wood* In six days, I have managed to write a good chunk of the story I thought of, and write over 12,000 words. (I will not even begin to think of how many of those words might not be necessary... I leave that for editing at a later point in time.) And, because I have been writing by hand and by computer so much, I think my right hand is something to be feared. (Just kidding, I may have super fast typing skills and stronger hand muscles in my dominant hand, but I'm still fairly wimpy as far as strength.)
Wee, I also think I'm fighting off a cold or something, as my head hurts slightly. Then again, for how loopy I am, it might be the little sleep I've run on for the past few days.

Anyways, for those who might be attempting NaNo, I wish you luck. For those who are not, please keep up your artistic endeavors, whatever they might be. :)

So Cory decided to get us both 3 month Premium memberships! Huzzah! I can browse more, and stuff. And use journal skins. And... I don't really know what else it's useful for, but I'm sure I'll find out.
